As far as I know the API is a quality rating in alphabetical order where the first letter reflects the engine (S = gasoline, C = diesel?), second letter the quality for that engine, means that both oils of your choice are of a higher quality than recommended.
Oil quality is constantly increasing so former premium Oils that were recommended are only low quality for todays standard, you will probably have problems in finding (engine)oil of such a low quality that you can't use it.
